Husbands Gone Wild

I’m over at Writers Gone Wild today, talking about heroes vs. husbands. Speaking of which, my hubby and I had a very nice date on Saturday night. My mom kept the kids until Sunday morning! It was heavenly.

And then–it all went horribly wrong. On Sunday afternoon, he brought home a dog. A puppy.

Our family pet died last month, and I’m just not ready to replace her. Plus, we’d agreed to find a calm, medium-sized dog at the shelter. This is a wild, medium-sized puppy from the barrio. I’m on pins and needles, waiting to hear back from my editor, and this beast is barking its fool head off, scratching at the screen door, and jumping all over the children.

Jill is not a happy girl.

The topic at WGW is the idea that romance novelists have perfect relationships and flawless husbands. We don’t, obviously. Leave a comment there for a chance to win a copy of Crash Into Me, or here just for fun.

P.S. Thanks to Katie Reus for hosting me. Check out her new release, Dangerous Deception:

OMG! I would kill the man if he brought a dog home without asking (even though I did the same thing a few years ago, lol). It does seem a bit too soon after the loss of your other one :( Keeping my fingers crossed for good news from your editor! Maybe that’ll make the barker more bearable.

Thanks, Katie. An unruly dog is a problem, considering that I work at home. We’ll see what happens. : )

    Jill,

My husband did the exact same thing. I can honestly say that I did not have the emotional energy for a puppy, who demands a LOT, so soon after losing our beloved family dog. It was a tough couple of months.

Now that puppy is 6 months old and I love him to death. I cannot imagine what I would do without him.

But if I had to do it over again, I would have waited a bit longer.

    Good luck!

    Jessica,

It’s good to know that I’m not the only one! Glad your puppy worked out for you. : )

After much discussion, “we” decided to take the wild dog back and try again later. Whew.
